Jaguar is known for building powerful vehicles that excel in all areas. The company is also known for upping its game one year after the next, and 2018 won’t be the exception to the rule. Jaguar is already looking ahead to the new year, and it has unveiled a new Ingenium 4-cylinder engine that is certain to please drivers. This new turbocharged engine will make its way into the XE, XF, and F-Pace crossover lines.
Turbocharged for Performance and Power
At first glance, the new engine looks like the engine that it replaces. Just like that engine, it is a 2.0L gasoline 4-cylinder engine. That’s where the similarities end, though. The exhaust manifold is integrated into the engine’s cylinder head this go around. In addition, the updated engine includes a twin-scroll turbocharger and can produce 269 pound-feet of torque and 247 horsepower. That is 18 lb-ft of torque and 7 hp more than its predecessor. It also reaches peak torque at a lower RPM. The old engine had to make it up to 1,750 RPM to max out the torque, while this one reaches peak torque at 1,200 RPM.
The engine isn’t the only thing that Jaguar is changing up for 2018. Jaguar is bringing on the technology in 2018. Look for features such as a forward cross-traffic alert system, as well as an alert system that will let you know how close you are to objects. On top of that, Jaguar is unveiling the first in-car payment system for fuel. Just drive up to a Shell station and pay inside of your car. All of these new features will make the 2018 Jaguar the most innovative and loaded Jaguar yet.
